NYC: Love Affair

The bright lights are blinding, my friend tells me on our way home

The winters too sharp and the summers too bold

Nothing here ever lasts

Everyone is moving too fast

Skyscrapers blocking her sun

But here, where I walk everyday

Here where I sit on the train

Where I watch the dogs play and the fountain pour

As I look around I know I’m not the only one chasing bright ruby stages

The subway chime my curtain call

I enjoy the bite New York takes from me

The humbling it gives with every step I take

Everyone crawling and clawing their way to their dream

What better place to try than here?
